Nancy McCallion is the writer of a large number of sad songs you’ve probably never heard and the occasional happy song laced with irony. She is the daughter of a Scottish immigrant of Irish descent and a first generation German farm girl from Texas, which may explain her over indulgence in ale and stout followed by the compulsive washing of the empties. (Bottle washing could also be an act of penance, attributable to her Catholic upbringing, the zealous recycling being an attempt to purchase indulgences.)
In the 1990’s and early 2000’s Nancy toured the US, Canada, Italy and Down Under with a band called The Mollys. She now lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband, daughter and two cats, and performs in bars for a handful of music lovers and the occasional malcontent who complains about the sadness of the songs. When she is not singing, drinking ale or washing bottles, she teaches writing at the local community college.
